Chitwan National Park was officially declared as National Park of Nepal in 1973 and in 1983, it was listed as UNESCO Natural World Heritage Site. This park covers an area of 932 sq. kms., located in the lowland, Terai region, which altitude ranges from about 100m in the river valleys to 815m in Churia hills.
